Prevention

stop the cycle

More often than not, perpetrators of child abuse were abused themselves as children.

In order to stop the cycle of abuse Santa Rosa Kids’ House staff members participate in community outreach to increase public awareness about healthy relationships, child abuse and the recovery process.

During the school year, our prevention team goes to Santa Rosa county elementary schools and teaches the Monique Burr Child Safety Matters curriculum. These lessons are comprehensive and evidence-based for elementary school students in grades K-5.

The program educates and empowers children and all relevant adults with information and strategies to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, all types of abuse, and digital abuse dangers.
